I-58 Navs, We are trusting God for generations of life-long laborers; living out whole life discipleship within communities facing poverty, oppression, and injustice. In Isaiah 58, the Lord appeals to His people to do the following:
The I-58 Navs in Detroit engage our neighborhoods on a grassroots level. We believe that the deep-rooted challenges our communities face require us to respond with a whole-life gospel. Our local staff and stakeholders seek to Love God & Love Our Neighbors in ways ranging from racial reconciliation to housing rehab projects, from longterm mentoring relationships to youth outreach programs. We want to invest in Christ-centered communities across the divides of age, race, and economics, and with a special eye toward the vulnerable and marginalized.
Whatever form our ministry takes the heart is the same as ever: we are passing on the living gospel of Jesus’ Kingdom, from one generation to the next so that Jesus can bring transformation and wholeness.
God is at work in the City of Detroit and we want to be part of it.
Verse 12 promises us, “Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities” (NLT). Our goal is to raise up generations of laborers from these communities, men, and women who will partner with us in knowing Christ and making Him known right where they live.
